Developed in the 1920s, the Boysenberry plant nearly went extinct several times. Each time, it was rescued from the brink through wildly unlikely circumstances. The remarkable tales of the berry and the man who created it – Rudolph Boysen – largely took place here in Orange County. There’s even a Tustin connection!
The Tustin Area Historical Society proudly features an entertaining evening with Orange County historian Chris Jepsen on Friday, January 31st from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Tustin Area Museum.
Orange County historian Chris Jepsen is the longtime president of the Orange County Historical Society. He’s a frequent lecturer; has created museum exhibits and historical tours; and has written for historical journals, magazines, websites, and his own blog: The O.C. History Roundup. He wrote the first significant article about Rudy Boysen and the Boysenberry and continues to research the subject today.
January’s Night at the Museum starts at 7:00 pm at the Museum, 395 El Camino Real in Old Town Tustin.
